Special Collections: J.A. Harvie-Brown Papers
The Harvie-Brown collection of manuscripts and papers was bequeathed to the Royal Scottish Museum, together with a large part of his library and reprints. About half of the manuscript collection consists of correspondence, filed alphabetically by correspondent. The remainder being journals, notes and other miscellaneous material relating to natural history.
He also acquired the correspondence of other naturalists such as H. A. Macpherson, John Young and William Jardine.
Material in the subject files includes notes and notebooks by Harvie-Brown and others, photographs and a variety of printed matter, including newspaper articles and reprints.
A Finding List of the archive was created by Joy Pitman in 1983.
